Dr. Brian S. King, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. King received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from
the United States Naval Academy. He then earned his medical degree from Georgetown University. Dr. King completed
training in Undersea and Hyperbaric medicine at the Naval Undersea Medical Institute in Groton, CT and served as a
Diving Medical Officer for three years before returning to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth Virginia to complete his
residency in General Surgery. He completed his fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care at the University of
Pennsylvania. Dr. King is Board Certified in both General Surgery and Critical Care. He is a Fellow of the
American College of Surgeons.
Dr. King recently joined Lakeview Medical Center after 15 years in the US Navy.
He is an Assistant Professor in Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences,
F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine. During his years at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, he served
as a General and Pediatric Surgeon as well Assistant Head of Critical Care Medicine. An experienced
Academic Surgeon, Dr. King has earned numerous teaching awards including twice winning the John S. Jordan Award
for General Surgery Attending of the Year.
Dr. King’s interest and scope of practice include all aspects of General Surgery with a focus on:
- Minimally Invasive approaches and advanced laparoscopic technique
- Surgery of the Breast
- Endocrine Surgery – thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, and adrenal
- Pediatric Surgery
- Endoscopy
Dr. King lives in Suffolk with his wife Jackie and their four children: Thomas, Connor, Cassie, and Rory.
