Syed Thiwan, M.D.

Dr. Thiwan received his medical degree from the University of Madurai Kamaraj, India in 1988. He completed his medical residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York, N.Y.. He practiced Internal Medicine in Kings Mountain, N.C. for nearly 5 years before deciding to pursue a G.I. fellowship. He completed his G.I. fellowship at the University of N.C. at Chapel Hill, N.C. in June 2008 before joining Lakeview Medical Center.

Dr. Thiwan received a broad training in gastrointestinal and liver disorders. He is trained in all upper and lower endoscopic procedures with extra specialization in endoscopic ultrasound. He will be the only doctor in the area to offer this service in the Western Tidewater area. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
