Nuclear Medicine

Lakeview Medical Center possesses several significant nuclear medicine capabilities, including
Nuclear Stress Cardiac Scanning and Bone scans.
•    Nuclear Stress Testing:  a diagnostic exam used to evaluate the adequacy of the blood supply to the heart.
This procedure is useful in patients with chest pain to detect the presence or absence of
coronary artery disease.
•    Bone Scanning:  a diagnostic exam used to detect or rule out damage to the bones. This procedure
can detect bone damage caused by cancer, or other diseases and infection earlier than other diagnostic
techniques. It can detect bone damage caused by injury that may go undetected with other diagnostic
procedures. Early detection of damage permits early treatment when it is most effective.
